Shenzhen's 14th five year plan
Shenzhen's 14th Five-Year Plan outlines the city’s vision for 2021–2025, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and improved urban living.
GDP AND POPULATION GROWTH
In the year 2019, China managed to record a GDP of about 14.3 trillion US dollars, whose main contributions came from the manufacturing industry and the growing technology industry. Its population hit about 1.4 billion and was nearing its peak as the country was beginning to grapple with a dangerously aged population and falling birth rates, raising fears of the labor market of the future.

As per estimations, China’s GDP will be around US$ 22–26 trillion by the year 2030, these increases will then be sustained through gradual increases towards green technology and artificial intelligence based innovation-led industries. By this time, the population is expected to peak at 1.42 billion; this time however, China will be facing a demographic change where elderly citizens will form a larger fraction of the population which may increase pressure on healthcare and social services provision.

If these trends carry on forward, by 2040, China will have around 30-35 trillion dollars GDP although the estimation by that time show a decrease in growth rates due to the low workforce population which is expected to be at around 1.39 billion at this time. An aged population may force China towards heavy investments in automation and growth towards sustainability in order to offset the impact of reduced workers.
